DJ Em is a former music journalist, current podcaster, and now DJ, from Toronto, with a passion for sick beats and clever lyrics, and an insane penchant for reading liner notes; learning all she can about the creators of and contributors to soul-stirring music.

Em has worked for VIBE Magazine, Pride News Magazine and canoe.ca (Sun Media) and has been published in New York-based VIBE, Honey and the Village Voice, London’s Trace magazine and Toronto’s Pride Newsmagazine, canoe.ca and JAM! online entertainment magazine.

Em now comes at you biweekly, on The Mixed in the Six Podcast, addressing issues important to the mixed-race community.

Yet, music has always been Em’s first love ever since digging through her dad’s collection of vinyl – 33’s and 45’s – listening to every nuance, beat and word, and devouring the details in each liner note.
